About

The Salsa Club was formed in 2007 by Calvin Elkins. The passion of salsa drove Calvin to create and start Salsa in Huntsville. In 2011 Erick Ordonez took over as director of the Salsa Club and has created an opportunity for people to communicate through dancing. Latin Dancing (Salsa/Bachata/Cha Cha/Merengue/Reggaeton etc) is not about memorizing moves and being perfect and repeating the same patterns. UA Huntsville pushes for students to communicate with each other. Learn new techniques, build a strong foundation, and show the awesome culture of Latin Dancing. We build a strong relationship with our students that it feels more like family then class mates.

WE DO NOT CHARGE/CLASSES ARE FREE!!!!

People always question why our classes are free? The answer, This is a passion that we love to share. We do not use Salsa as a way to make income. We all have day jobs and just love to do what we do (No gimmicks, No Hype, Just Passion). We always strive to communicate this to our students and participants at our socials. People will question our quality because of our large numbers in our classes and our ability to not charge. Our response is "So What"! We encourage our students to take classes with other local instructors that charge fees and other instructors that do not charge. We also push our students to attend socials, and events hosted by other instructors and promoters. We do not compete, we are not about profit, we are about communication, meeting new people, having lots of fun, and promoting/teaching latin dancing to our community. This is the root cause for our huge success in the community. Like a family, family members move on and leave but our family continues to grow. We have the largest classses in the state of Alabama, we average 50 people a night per class. In the summer months we range in the 60's in number of participants.

Our classes are not about us, its about you. And because of this our crew is made up of different types of people. One of the reason Salsa became Salsa was because it was created from a mulitple varieties of dances (mambo, cha cha, guahira, clave). Our students are the same way, we have athletes, rockers, hip hop dancers, professionals, engineers, professors, young adults, seasoned adults ;-), and an overall great group of people who would love to dance with you. If you need additional help our students and crew will help you get better. Always friendly and always FREE!
